We headed out to a property in the Ramsey area to take down two dead ash trees, and this one was a job that really made a difference by the time we packed up and left. The Emerald Ash Borer has been working its way through Minnesota for years now, and ash trees across the Minneapolis area have been paying the price. This homeowner had two that had run their course - one full-sized ash out front, and a smaller one hanging over the roofline.
The big one in the front yard was gray, bare, and done. That's what Emerald Ash Borer does - it cuts off the tree's ability to move nutrients under the bark, and eventually you're left with a standing skeleton. It's a tough thing to watch happen to a mature tree, but once it's gone, you immediately notice how much the front yard opens up. The curb appeal difference was immediate.
The second tree was the more urgent one. A dead ash hanging over a roofline is not something to sit on. Dead ash can get brittle faster than most people expect, and a limb coming down on a roof is a bad day nobody wants to have. Getting that one down was about safety first, and the homeowners were relieved once it was cleared away.
Both removals went clean from start to finish. We used a tracked lift to work the canopy safely and efficiently, and the property was left clean once everything was cut down and hauled off. No mess, no damage, just a yard that looks and feels better - and a roof that's no longer at risk.
If you've got ash trees on your property in the Minneapolis area that are showing signs of decline - no leaves, sparse canopy, bark damage - don't wait. Dead ash trees can become a hazard faster than most people realize, and getting ahead of it is always the smarter move.
